"We caught a preview, thanks to Comedy Central, of Jim Gaffigan's new special. "Jim Gaffigan - Beyon d The Pale" is more than just a publicity kick-off for his CD of the same name - it is a vivid and hilarious exploration of the workings of a subtly brilliant comedic mind. Gaffigan's absurdist leaps of reasoning are accompanied by a truly unique and fascinating delivery, which ranges from mock-pomposity and arrogant self-assurance to a mode of expression that is a Gaffigan trademark - using a high-pitched, whining voice, he comments on his own comedy as if he were a naive and critical third party. The technique provides a highly amusing and totally clueless, commentary on the main thread of his comedy. Jim Gaffigan is an extremely funny guy, and well worth your time to watch.
